Ahvenisto recreation area in Hämeenlinna is a beautiful and valuable esker area on the western side of the city of Hämeenlinna. Its core consists of a conservation area of 64 hectares. The entire recreation area covers a total of 210 hectares, and the esker kettle lake in Ahvenisto has 2,5 kilometres of shoreline.
The area has a swimming beach, marked trails for joggers and hikers, gym racks, a fire ring, a nature trail, a volleyball court, a sauna and a cafe. The area is open for visitors throughout the year.
