The area is situated along the historical Hämeen Härkätie Road in Pääjärvi, in the municipalities on Loppi and Renko. The area covers a 20-hectare esker area owned by the municipalities at the northern end of Pernunnummi, including about a kilometre of natural sandy beach. The area is part of a more extensive esker formation of about 70 hectares, with over 4 kilometres of beach and magnificent eskers. There are two hiking trails, 1.5 km and 4.5 km long. There are two bases, one with a fire ring and a beach suitable for swimming, and the other with a log shelter and a fire ring. Both bases have a compost toilet. There is an info sign at the parking lot with a more detailed map of the area and the services available. The Härkätie Trail of the Häme Lynx Trail (Hämeen Ilvesreitti) passes through the area.
The area is owned by Hämeenlinna, Riihimäki, Forssa, Hattula, Janakkala, Jokioinen, Kalvola, Loppi, Renko and Ypäjä, and the more extensive area is owned by UPM Ltd.
